CNY Drones in cooperation with the Town of Sullivan Parks and Recreation Department, will present Chittenango Chiller Drone Race, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Sullivan Town Park, Chittenango. The MultiGP racing event opens at Noon.  In addition to fast-paced outdoor drone racing, spectators can mingle with area drone enthusiasts and try out FPV - First Person View goggles. The event is a follow-up to last summer’s race that attracted over 100 spectators.  CNY Drones is the MultiGP Racing Chapter and an Academy of Model Aeronautics Model Aviation Student Club serving Central New York. Sullivan Parks and Recreation Department is also hosting two other CNY Drones events as a part of their summer parks programs. A one hour Interactive Drone Demonstration for kids will be on Tuesday, July 9, 10:30am to 11:30am and an Experience FPV Introductory Drone Flying Session on August 8th.

CNY Drones partners with area organizations to present STEM-focused drone events.  Community partnerships give the volunteer-run group an opportunity to provide inspiring drone programs that feed into the regional education and employment pipeline created around the New York State UAS Test Site at Griffiss International Airport. Racing attracts students and adults of all ages. CNY Drones uses race events to draw attention to their centerpiece program, an annual indoor Team Drone Challenge for students, age 12+. CNY Drones recently wrapped up their second student competition season, FOREST FURY, with 10 finalist teams at the SUNY Polytechnic Institute on April 7, 2019. The group is currently preparing for the 2020 FARM-i-GEDDON Team Drone Challenge. Details will be released at the end of September for a new competitive division for college students and adults.
