Dr. Bull is an active researcher and educator in the areas of systems automation, challenged/contested network communications, high performance real-time Linux computing systems, virtualization platforms, and neuromorphic systems. He has served as a consultant and subject matter expert in these areas on multiple Department of Defense contracts with the Air Force Research Labs (AFRL) in Rome NY, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Dr. Bull is also an active member of the Interplanetary Chapter (IPNSIG) of the Internet Society and IPNSIG Pilot Projects Working Group (IPNSIG-PWG) working with his students and team members from all over the world to help create an interplanetary internet that supports interoperability between Delay Tolerant Networking systems and Bundle Protocol implementations from multiple sectors including NASA, ESA, JAXA, and commercial entities.
