International Admissions - Graduate Admission Requirements

Admission to SUNY Polytechnic Institute is competitive and based on an extensive review of academic qualifications, proof of financial support, and recommendations.

Application Deadlines - Utica Campus

Fall Admission - July 1 (Computer Science, Cybersecurity: Network & Computer Security)
Spring Admission - November 1 (Computer Science)


MS in Computer Information Science (must possess a baccalaureate degree with a major in computer science or information systems. In addition, a background in mathematics including calculus, discrete mathematics and probability is required)

MS in Cybersecurity: Network & Computer Security (must possess the equivalent of an undergraduate degree in network and computer security, computer science or systems, electrical engineering, or a related field)


English Language Proficiency:

TOEFL iBT (Institution Code for score reporting - 2896) - minimum score of 79 OR IELTS - overall band score of 6.5 OR PTE Academic - 53
Note: Proof of English language proficiency is not required if you are a graduate of a U.S. college or university.

GRE (Graduate Record Exam): 
A minimum GRE quantitative reasoning score - 153

Bachelor's Degree & Grade Point Average (GPA):
All applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent with a 3.0 (B) or higher cumulative GPA by U.S. standards to be considered for admission.
(For applicants from India, a 60% academic credential is required.)

English Language Proficiency:

GRE (Graduate Record Exam)
Highly recommended, but not required for admission to the nano programs.
All elements of an individual's application for are evaluated, so minimum required scores are not identified.

The bachelor's degree must be in the physical, chemical, biological, or computer sciences, mathematics, or engineering. 


Important note: Foreign transcripts and documents must be professionally translated in English and evaluated. Applicants must use a service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. We require a course-by-course evaluation with GPA calculated.
