William Spitz, Civil Engineering
Internship Q&A: What did you focus on during your internship program? While at H2M, I worked in the civil/site group on site design and drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D. I put together site plans for many different uses, including new construction; permit applications; change of zone applications; and legalizing buildings, existing systems, site features, and uses.

John Russo, Mechanical Engineering Technology
John Russo has always enjoyed working with his hands. Combining that with a love of technology led John to study mechanical engineering technology at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, where he entered his senior year in Fall 2016. Along the way, John is taking full advantage of the real-world experiences available to him at SUNY Poly with a 10-week internship at Indium Corporation, a refiner, producer, and supplier of indium and indium compounds.

In a field that traditionally has been occupied predominantly by males, Bianca Little proves that engineering knows no gender boundaries. “I feel like I need to excel in my studies and in leadership skills in order to not be overlooked for jobs, being that this is a predominantly male field. I feel like I have and will have to always go the extra mile to prove myself capable of working in this field.”

Mechanical Engineering Students Help Veteran
More than anything else, he’d like to golf again. Rick Yarosh of Windsor, N.Y., was deployed to Iraq in 2005. He served nine months until one day, in September 2006, his tank was hit by a makeshift bomb. The attack left him with terrible injuries. More than 60% of his body was badly burned, and his right leg had to be amputated below the knee.
